THE COMPLEX QUEST FOR SIMPLIFICATION
A major development in the S-series is found in its cross-over technology.
In most high end speakers, passive crossover components are designed to minimise the loss in signal path, and Audiovector’s crossovers have for years been some of the best performing in the industry. By using only a single component in series with our specially designed Audiovector drivers, we managed to cut down crossover losses to an absolute minimum. This ultra-simple approach – compared with the multiple-component crossover variations of other speakers – is one of the landmark advances we achieved when developing our earlier top end speakers. So we knew we had a tough task ahead of us if we were to improve on our own technological advances. Nothing existed which could come close to out-performing what we had already invented.
Obsessive trials and testing finally rewarded us with new Dynamic Feed Forward (DFF) technology, which results in a 50% reduction in loss of our already unbeatable Mi3 series. Incorporating DFF, NCS cryogenic treatment on top models and asymmetrical cabling on all models means the new S-series has the most sophisticated crossover technology on the planet. |

INNOVATIONS
ARA Switch (top and bottom left picture). We design the speakers, but not the environments into which they are put. If normal speakers are put in a “hostile environment” – a room with a lot of echo – they tend to underperform. That is why we have designed a technology which makes our speakers actively adapt to their specific environment. Avantgarde speakers are installed with specially designed ARA technology (optional on other models) – which adapts the speakers to the room in which it is positioned by mirroring the response of the echo, and thus neutralising it.
De-coupled stand (pictured top right) reduces unwanted vibrations. The apertures are specially designed for perfect floor-to-cabinet positioning to maximise the effect of the Bass Reflex Port.
This port reinforces the bass output, and allows the cabinet to be placed closer to walls. Above the de-coupled stand are the tri-wiring terminals for optimal dynamic performance and inner detail.
S-Series’ Non-parallel shape greatly enhances sound reproduction, while making the units appear smaller and more discrete. The rear radiation ports (pictured bottom right) increase the soundstage using Audiovector’s Soundstage Enhancement Concept (SEC). |
